Coming to Shanghai has made me reflected alot on my life. It made me realised that people are not who they really are on the outside. It made me realised that people make friends because the other person has a certain value for the person.

I am pretty upset over the fact that people I once thought were friends hold such skewered thinking and ideals that I simply cannot comprehend. It made me wonder if the world is spinning for such people as they seem to lead such charmed lives.

I love Shanghai, and want to return to Shanghai one day for an extended period of time. For now, I am simply homesick and tired of facing these soulless people daily.

In 3 weeks time, it will be goodbye beloved Shanghai. For now, it will be Cookie, I miss you very much.

Going to uni made me think hard of my future. I realised that business admin is not what I really want to be studying right now. Instead I wished that I was studying in NTU's mass comm programme or to be a doctor.

At 16, I gave up my dreams to be a doctor because I felt inadequate. Inadequate of my peers out there who is smarter, more sociable and had an advantage in their family background. At 19, I let this fear of inadequacy stopped me again. I was afraid that my proficiency in the English language was not on par with my peers.

One good thing that arose from my current university education was the chance to meet various inspiring people. One was a client for my marketing project dealing in gourmet chocolate. What was needed was the perseverance and a passion in his product. His gourmet chocolate is currently retailing in Singapore and across the world; and he is a doctor. Of course, he has a partner who is has experience in the business world. But the point that came to mind was: are the concepts learned in school really that relevant to the real world?

I have always struggled with the reconciliation of what was learnt in school with what is applicable in the real world. I taught that I would have finally gotten a perfect fit with my polytechnic education. Alas, this education was not beneficial to my university education as I would hope. I finally thought that I would find the right fit in university. Alas, disappointment sets in once again.

Have most of us been brainwashed into thinking that an university education by local institutes is a must? Then why have I encountered peers who seemed to forgot their purpose of getting a university degree?

Isn't the ultimate aim of completing a university degree is of the securement of a cushy job? Then why would these peers not grabbed a cushy job being offered to them in their midst of their studies? Then why are they holding on to the perception that they may get a similar paying or even higher paying job in the future when the future is uncertain?

My education path has moulded me into a non-analytical, non-critical, non-opinated puppet. Have a thought of what you want the education system to mould you into. Because once sucked into this system, there is no turning back, and all you can only do is to just bear with it.

Results were out not long ago. Was pleasantly surprised yet disappointed. The disappointment part made me angry. Before the release of the results I expected the very worst. I thought it was going to happen. But the reality wasn't really what I expected. I should be glad. Instead, I was disappointed.

I made myself promise that I would start taking modules that I am truly interested in, and start to shape the new me. But insecurities started to resurfaced after the release of results which saw the old me resurfacing.

This probably boils down to what I was in the past and still exist in the kiasu and competitive part of me. I used to define success as good grades. But reality bit me hard when I received my diploma. Sure I did receive great grades. But what scared me was the emptiness I felt in my soul and my head. What I gained after 3 years of slogging my guts out was a paper. This paper gained me an university entrance. This paper shows how intelligent a person I am. But is this really true. No. Because I had not grown intellectually, but rather become even more stupid if this is even possible.

What is success. Is success a happy marriage and a happy family? Is is a high flying career? Or is it even the straight As on the report card. I am really sick of living up to Singapore's stardard of success. Look where it has brought us. Sure we are living in a country of peace and comfort. And I'm glad of this. But peel off this shiny surface and you will face with the ugly truth that we have been molded to have become robots with minimal personalities. There are many who laments that Singapore has no place to showcase their talent. But in reality, many of us lacks talent in the first place. And if there is talent, charisma, personality and grit are clearly lacking in many Singaporeans today.

I do not want to end up as one of the many 9to5 executives who take the train to work everyday, marry someone from the office, get a hdb loan and have a family of 4. All I want is to break out of the mold and for once experience something extraordinary. I do not know whether I have the courage in me to try and not be bounded by our society's imposed standards. I feel that I'm losing myself as I do not know who I have become and want to be, drowing in the stifling culture of Singapore.

In 10 years, I may become part of the typical Singaporeans striving for the same dream. But all I asked for now is that I give myself the courage to reach out, to give myself a chance and take a chance at my dream and a better me.

Pic taken using Photobooth. It is amazing how Photobooth has this soft skin feature, masking the irregularities of my skin. My skin looks almost flawless in this picture. Almost.

Was waiting for the arrival of Leader. Waited 4 hrs just for a 2 minutes glimpse of him. And finally he has arrived.

NE and I arrived 4hrs earlier so that we could be standing in the first row. We were successful but the Faceshop people had to stand in front of us to welcome him. So angry. They wasted our efforts. Cannot get a clearer look at him.

At least I managed to snap some decent pics of him. At least this event was so much better than the Faceshop event at Tampines Mall the next day, where I did not manage to see him at all despite standing in the first row.

All these ended in 2 minutes and off he goes.

This would probably be my first and very last time that I will participate in such Fangirl behaviour. But at least it's an experience.

I absolutely cannot agree with the time and effort spent to wait for such stars and scream my heads off like many of the fans. Not appearing as hyper as the other fans do not mean that I do not like the stars as much but probably due to my personality. I realised that I am actually quite...boring.

How can I be so empty inside. I realised that there is this lack of substance? This reminds me of KyuJong. He is Mr. Nice Guy and so cute. But I realised that like me, he is quite boring? He tries probably the hardest among the other double s members but he lacks the certain charisma and spark that other members like leader has which makes KyuJong pales in comparison, which makes me pretty sad. But still, I like him the best. 请你跟我结婚生子吧！ Haha 发花痴! Again.

I hope SS501 would hold a concert in Singapore soon. Will definitely attend. Hwaiting!

Went school to take placement test. But I chickened out in end. I thought no one would turn up. Somemore still late because I remembered the wrong timing for the shuttle bus. Why like that T___T I am really very 笨.

In the end yeap had cramps and we had to cancel zichar date with val koh. Very scary her cramps.She stayed in the cubicle for over an hour. I felt so peiseh standing outside. Somemore the weather was so hot and I was wearing leggings and cardi. But she still got some 良心.Treat me eat yong tau foo. Ok I admit because she cannot finish.

Appearances can be so deceiving. She doesn't look like she got cramp here. But an hour ago she was so 夸张 until I wanted to call NUH for help already.

Took the super long bus home till want sleep already. But got yeap's nano to accompany me for the 2.5 hours journey on bus back to Tampines. She very good life. Sleep like she's in her bed like that. And all I could do was just nod nod and nod my head.

Life in a nut-SHELL

Yesterday was my first day of work at Shell station for the F1 vpower fuel event. It was pretty fun with the guys and yeap dressed up as the pitstop personnels, cleaning the cars up like at pitstop breaks. Wearing the attire is stifling hot though, and I have to wear it next week as I'll be rotating the attires with yeap.

The uniform is riduculously large on me and I have no idea how I would survive the 4 hours next week. The pitstop girl outfit is better. But the shoes are really cmi. So big and bulky.

Besides the heat, the other downside to this job is the continuous inhaling of fuel fumes. I do not want to imagine the extent of damage that my lungs have suffered for that 4 hours.

I reallyhate going to school. Period

3rd week

It is only my 3rd week in NUS and I am getting really stressed out. Tutorials seemed to be a touch and go matter, where the lectures seemed to be more comprehensive and understandable. Compared to tutorials, textbooks seemed like a better choice to get my answers from.

Then, it is enough to do my tutorial questions to get ready for tutorials. Now, more has to be done. More and more and MORE. But how much is really enough. And what exactly is more. Everyone in my class besides ne and I seemed to understand tutorials like F. Acc more because they were from the accounting or business diploma in the polytechnic. They are making me very nervous about the course as I feel so damn stupid as compared to their intermediate answers. What I've learnt in the past were really only the very very basics. However the problem is that I cannot seem to recall much of what I've learnt in the past. Concepts yes, actual terms no. Ne is also making me anxious as she seems to remember, but isn't much of a help when i have my doubts over certain concepts.

Now it seems that I am truly alone, with no one to turn to, and I have to be independant now. With my father constantly saying that I should not continue my studies, I am starting to waver from my conviction that a degree education is necessary for my future. I want to be a stewardess, there is no shame in it. So is that paper really important to me? This I am not sure. I really feel like quitting (choy) school because the stress is really getting to me. I am not sure if it is because the perfectionist in me towards school is causing me unduly stress.

All I know is that I have to do something quick. Before this stress starts to eat me alive, if it hasn't done so yet. To top it all off, I'm sick with a sore throat and blocked nose. Wish me well everyone. Because that's the only thing with can comfort me now.

First week of school was alright. Nothing spectacular happened. Although I was in the same lecture with *gasp* Felicia Chin on Thurs. That was probably the highlight of my week.

Yikes to crowded buses and the 1h45min journey to school everyday. I was late twice out of my 3 days in sch. I swear that it's the bloody buses' fault, them not coming when it's supposed to.

Didn't print one of the notes for lecture this week as the lecturer decided to upload it up only at the very last minute before lecture day. Hope this is an isolated case. If not I would have to take the hassle to on the PC to print them, and I don't want this to happen.

School has started but there are still tons of stuff to settle which is making me crazy.

On hindsight this week seemed (un?)eventful. Fingers crossed that cors goes through. I pray to God that it will.

I've made my bed and now I have to lie in it. No more looking back now.

Have been fervently searching for a second hand DSLR these past yr. To the extent that I dreamt that a canon 550d was at a mad cheap price of $390 yesterday night and I had no money to pay for it. But all the cameras were either too expensive or not worth the price. But I don't know whether it was a stroke of luck or fate, I've found one of the cheapest and best entry level DSLR. And it is the Pentax K-X. Introduced to the world in September 2009, the Pentax K-X is truly worth the money with all the features in it, for a price of $782, standard kit with no freebies.

Features wise I'm not sure how truly fantastic it really is (will need her royal highness' expert view), other than through the great reviews from the people on clupsnap and hwz. But once I saw that it comes in WHITE!, I was sold. Also it is one of the lightest dslr around at 515g (excl. battery and card), which is a major plus point for me as I wouldn't want to have to lug a freaking heavy brick around when I am out.

Fucking chio. OMFG. I knew that I had to have it. Please Lord let there be a book prize of at least $500. OMGOMGOMG.

It also comes in a rainbow of colours in Japan.

But looking from the above pic, the white is still the nicest colour offered, unless they come in baby colours.

I literally did both within the last hour. When I get excited/nervous I tend to want to shit (Is this the reason why I tend to shit whenever I'm at the airport T_T). 10 minutes into bidding and I could feel the my bowels starting to rumble. 7 minutes into it and I had to resist the damn urge to run to the toilet.

Luckily my willpower trumps over my body needs, and I manage to win. WTF.

I want the fuschia one desperately. Was dying to get my hands on this baby when I saw a passerby carrying it. It's one of the prettiest bags I have seen thus far in this gorgeous shade of fuschia.

If I had search thoroughly online the day I saw it, it would probably be mine now. But alas, due to me procrastinating as always this range is already out of stock. FML. So the determined me searched high and low, pestering anyone who has it listed on their web to sell it to me.

The Park Slope Opus in BLACK *swoons*. Black is better than fuschia cause it matches with everything. Now I would just convince myself -.-.

If all goes well I would be getting my new school bag, school shoes and the prettiest hair tie by the end of this month. Getting ahead of myself as I haven't even accepted the school which I will be going to. FML.

Here’s a instruction on how to DIY a Pearl & Crystal Bridal Bouquet (& Boutonnieres).

(I DIY-ed this pearl Bouquet for my wedding during dec09 and ‘wow’ alot of my guests. Hope its useful to the other brides-to-bes who might wanna try something different from the usual out-of-mill fresh flowers..)

What you will need:

- 10 packs of silver wiring (This really depends on how big you want your bouquet to be. I used up 8packs. Got mine from Chinatown GoldDragon)

- Handicraft Pearls (Again depends on how big you want your bouquet to be.)

- Handicraft Crystal Beads (This can be replaces with anything else you fancy. Say Diamontes or Rhinestones works well too)

- White Silk Ribbons about 3cm thick (Thicker ribbons make it easier to wrap the stems of the bouquet)

- Charm (Optional, I used the Chinese Character ‘Xi’. but it can be anything, vintage rings, swans, more crystals. up to you.)

Instructions:

Step 1: Twist One pearl into One Wire (see drawing – Step1)

Step 2: Keep repeating step 1 untill you get desired size of bouquet.

Step 3: Bound all the wire+Pearls together (see drawing – Step2)

Step4: Tie all the wirings up with ribbon (I had approximately 200pearlwirings + -)

As for the DIY Groom Boutonnieres

Its the same thing. Just snip off the wire to about 18cm and repeat Step1. This means that the boutonniere will be about 8cm. If you want a longer Boutonnieres, just snip off less of the wiring. Hope im making sense here.

Make about 12Pearl+Wiring and tie it up with ribbon

Trim the ends and Horray you are done!

I've gotten Vivienne Westwood For Melissa Matt Wax Seal Slingback Shoe on impulse. They are a size up from the shoes I usually get. But since I am wearing a size bigger for cotton on pumps, I decided to take the risk. I get fall back on good ole tights/socks should they be too loose. I hit the paypal button twice, but it shouldn't have deducted twice since I've only $1xx left. Luckily have brought the heels I want to keep to jy's house, if not they have to suffer the fate with those remaining at home- which is to sell.
